Su Fischer couldn’t understand what was the matter after returning to her native Chile from a year here, partly with SAMS … until someone lent her a book about reverse culture shock.
“As we look over our calendar”, write Alf and Hilary Cooper from La Trinidad church in Santiago, “we see wonderful evangelistic opportunities before us: 5 Marriage Encounters, 4 Cursillos, all of which function as ‘new people bring new people.’ This is why so many new people have been arriving at the church.
El Redentor church in La Serena, Chile, has celebrated its second anniversary. Its name means ‘The Redeemer’ and emphasises the vision for Cross-centred mission.
One of God’s answers to southern Chile’s current needs has been Terry & Pancha Barratt, following years of ministry in Viña del Mar. They had an encouraging start to work among the Pehuenche people, a branch of the Mapuches:
Bishop Abelino Apeleo thanks the Lord “for the missionary legacy and its clear markers in our church’s history. It spread the gospel to all corners of this southern region, also establishing hospitals and schools.” The photo at far right shows William Wilson School rebuilt after the 2004 fire.
Greetings! We celebrated Pentecost last week with our Bishop, Tito Zavala, his wife Myriam, and their son Pablo. During Pentecost last year, Kip and Wendy Brennan's son (and Kayla's brother) Parker was Resurrection's first Baptism. At that time, his family, godparents, and this community entered into the Baptismal Covenant on his behalf.
Last Sunday, Bishop Tito confirmed Michael Dunbar, Kate O'Donovan, and Jamie Roth. With over 100 witnesses, the confirmands publicly affirmed their Baptismal Covenants. As they were confirmed, we also publicly restated our baptismal vows, renewing our own covenants as individuals and as a community.
With great joy was celebrated the opening of the new dependencies of Radio Misión Araucana, of Chol-Chol. The ceremony was lead by Bishop Abelino Apeleo. The utmost authorities of the commune attended, as well as ministers, guardians and students.
The new dependencies that of 50 mt.2 are situated south of. William Wilson School and count with a studio, an interviewing room, administrative offices, warehouse and hall. The radio broadcasts to all communes in the coast of the IX Region.
The programming consists of news, messaged and reflection of Christian character. The old building had been completely destroyed by a fire that also tore down the school in 2004, and had kept on its broadcasting in improvised studios and lent equipment. Now, they count with own devices donated by the El Paso Churh, Texas (USA).

John Stott would like his many friends around the world to know that, having reached the age of 86 in April, he has taken the decision finally to retire from public ministry after fulfilling one final speaking engagement at the upcoming Keswick Convention in July.
He will also be moving home from his flat in Bridford Mews, London, where he has lived for more than 30 years, to a retirement community for Anglican clergy in the south of England which will be able to provide more fully for his present and future needs. Dr Stott has made this decision with the strong belief that it is God’s provision for him at this stage.
Dr Stott will greatly value your prayer for him in the challenges and opportunities involved in this transition. John Stott is also happy to reassure his friends that the Langham Partnership International (or John Stott Ministries, in USA), is well prepared to continue its work, even after his retirement.
Chris Wright took over the leadership of the organisation from John Stott in 2001, and there is now a strong team of international programme managers and other staff and volunteers all over the world making sure that the work develops strongly into the future.
